Arnhem, Supermarkt Utrechtseweg Redevelopment of an inner-city location (property of the former Hegeman garage) with a starting point to enhance the local economy. A full service supermarket with underground parking as a pull-factor, catering in the monumental villa, day shops and renovation of 2 existing rental apartments.
Starting point was to draw attention by housing a supermarket, but proper added value arises as we look beyond the property at Utrechtseweg and involve the surrounding area - in particular the Oranjestraat. In this process were both inhabitants as entrepreneurs and stakeholders involved. A group was formed acting as a soundboard to advise the developer and municipality.
Support
Led by an independent chairman the soundboard group has considered the integration of a supermarket on the site of the Utrechtseweg, in which it was examined whether the wishes formulated in the concept program of wishes are also compatible with the wishes from the 2 other theme areas namely; traffic, nuisance and local economy, employment opportunities and cooperation.
